Prison chess continental championships open registration
Four regional online events will take place in May with no entry fee.

FIDE opened registration for the second Continental Online Chess Championships for Prisoners. The Chess for Freedom programme will stage separate competitions in Africa on 12 May, the Americas on 14 May, Europe on 19 May and Asia on 21 May.
Federations and correctional institutions may enter men’s, women’s and under-twenty teams. Countries running national prison championships can qualify additional teams. Each regional event lasts one day, with round-robin or Swiss arrangements depending on the number of entries.
Games will use ten minutes per player plus a five-second increment on Chess.com. Registration is free and closes on 1 May. A technical meeting is planned for the following week, with FIDE and its partners coordinating oversight and technical support.
