Camille Rast won her first World Cup giant slalom in Kranjska Gora on her fifty-eighth start in the discipline. Starting with bib one, she established a 0.33-second first-run lead and converted it into victory over Julia Scheib and Paula Moltzan.

Scheib finished 0.20 seconds behind after a strong second run. Moltzan returned to the podium while still recovering from her Semmering crash. Sara Hector and Mikaela Shiffrin rounded out the top five, while Alice Robinson failed to finish the opening run.

Rast moved into second in the giant slalom standings behind Scheib. The reigning slalom world champion dedicated the result to victims and families affected by the New Year’s Eve fire in her hometown of Crans-Montana.
