Source publication date:
Real Madrid defeated Atlético Madrid 2-1 to reach the Spanish Super Cup final. Federico Valverde’s early free-kick and Rodrygo’s second-half finish provided the advantage in Jeddah, where Madrid advanced to a meeting with Barcelona.
Valverde opened the scoring after two minutes with a long-range strike. Thibaut Courtois later saved efforts from Alexander Sørloth and Álex Baena as Atlético threatened to equalise before the interval, which arrived with Madrid still one goal ahead.
Rodrygo doubled the lead in the 55th minute after Valverde’s pass released him through the defence. Sørloth headed in three minutes later, but Madrid protected their advantage through the remaining stages to win the derby and secure a place in the trophy decider.
