Roldan highlights the value of World Cup experience
The Seattle midfielder discussed leadership as U.S. players competed for selection on home soil.

Cristian Roldan said experienced players could help the United States handle the demands of hosting the World Cup. The Seattle Sounders midfielder was one of ten members of the March camp who had also been selected for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
Eight of those returning players were the most-capped members of the current group, with 471 international appearances between them. Roldan had joined the previous four U.S. camps and appeared in the final six matches of 2025, including a two-assist performance against Australia.
Roldan stressed that previous selection did not guarantee a place in Mauricio Pochettino's summer squad. He viewed the Belgium and Portugal friendlies as chances to demonstrate readiness, while younger teammate Alex Freeman identified his leadership as an asset within the group.
