Sabalenka takes lead in WTA Finals qualification race
The updated leaderboard placed Rybakina second and Muchova fifth.
Source publication date:
Aryna Sabalenka moved to the top of the WTA Finals qualification race after earning 2,000 points through titles at Indian Wells and Miami. She overtook Elena Rybakina, whose runner-up and semifinal finishes at those tournaments added 1,040 points and left her second.
Jessica Pegula and Elina Svitolina retained third and fourth positions. Karolina Muchova rose one place to fifth after collecting 510 points across the two events, with the leaderboard tracking the season’s results rather than the rolling world rankings.
In doubles, Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend climbed to third behind Aleksandra Krunic and Anna Danilina, then Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani. The race determines entry to the eight-player and eight-team season-ending tournament in Riyadh, subject to its Grand Slam champion qualification provision.
