Santiago women’s Hockey World Cup qualifier field set
Australia and hosts Chile feature in one of two four-team pools.
Source publication date:
FIH outlined the women’s Hockey World Cup qualifier in Santiago, running from 2 to 8 March at the national stadium’s hockey centre. Eight teams will pursue three automatic World Cup places, with the two finalists and bronze-medal winner securing qualification.
Australia, Chile, France and Switzerland form pool A, while Japan, Ireland, Canada and Malaysia make up pool B. Group matches run through 5 March, before the semi-finals on 7 March and both medal contests on the following day.
The higher-ranked fourth-place team across Santiago and Hyderabad will also qualify for the sixteen-team World Cup. Nine countries had already booked places through earlier routes. The Chilean hosts will seek to use home support as they compete alongside established international teams and countries pursuing a breakthrough appearance.
