Scotland captain targets a first men’s Hockey World Cup appearance
Rob Field says recent tournament success has strengthened belief before Santiago.
Source publication date:
Scotland captain Rob Field described the men’s Hockey World Cup qualifier in Santiago as a chance to achieve the country’s first appearance at the tournament. He said the possibility of making history had created both excitement and pressure within a relatively young squad.
Scotland’s confidence draws partly on its 2025 Nations Cup Two title, which provided experience of knockout matches and performing under pressure. Field highlighted the quality and current form of players who had already participated in several international tournaments despite their youth.
The captain said his team would embrace the opportunity while remaining focused on each game, rather than treating qualification as an established outcome. Leading Scotland to a first World Cup would carry personal significance for him, but the interview kept attention on the work required during the March competition.
