Sels keeps Arsenal out in Nottingham Forest draw
The leaders’ second successive league stalemate left them seven points clear.
Source publication date:
Nottingham Forest held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw at the City Ground, with Matz Sels making several decisive saves. Arsenal had an opportunity to stretch their advantage after Manchester City lost earlier that day.
Sels denied Declan Rice’s volley and reacted sharply to turn away Bukayo Saka’s header. He also prevented Gabriel Jesus from scoring at close range, while Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Merino missed other opportunities.
The draw left Arsenal seven points ahead of City, with Aston Villa still to play. Forest remained 17th, five points clear of the relegation zone. Arsenal recorded consecutive goalless league draws for the first time since the opening weeks of the 2012–13 season.
