Gueye brace takes Senegal past Sudan
Senegal recovered from an early setback to win 3-1 in Tangier.

Senegal reached the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals by beating Sudan 3-1 in Tangier. Pape Gueye scored twice before half-time to overturn an early deficit, and substitute Ibrahim Mbaye later added the third goal.
Aamir Abdallah had put Sudan ahead after six minutes with a curling finish following a counterattack. Gueye equalised in the 29th minute and struck again during first-half added time, turning the score in Senegal’s favour before the interval.
Edouard Mendy made an important save early in the second half as Sudan sought an equaliser. Senegal then controlled the later stages, with Mbaye’s finish in the 77th minute completing the result and confirming their place in the next knockout round.
