Source publication date:
The Kazakhstan Chess Federation announced seven national federations selected for the 2026 Freedom Asian Chess Initiatives programme. Cambodia, Japan, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Pakistan and Turkmenistan were approved following an application period that closed in early January.
The initiative operates with support from Freedom Holding Corp., FIDE and the Asian Chess Federation. Its planned activities include training camps, educational seminars and assistance for participation in international competitions, with the aim of strengthening federation capacity and professional training standards.
Selection considered compliance with programme criteria and the prospects for sustained development in each country. The 2025 programme also supported seven federations, including grants for young players attending the world cadet championship in Almaty. The new group now forms the programme’s next annual development cohort.
