Jannik Sinner defeated James Duckworth 6–1, 6–4, 6–2 in the Australian Open second round. The two-time defending champion completed the match in one hour and forty-nine minutes at Rod Laver Arena, securing his sixteenth consecutive victory at Melbourne Park.

Duckworth resisted more effectively in the second set, saving three break points to lead 3–2. Sinner nevertheless recovered control, then established a double-break advantage in the third. His eighteenth ace of the evening brought the contest to an end on match point.

The victory extended Sinner’s overall unbeaten sequence to seventeen matches and his run without losing a set to twelve contests. He prepared to face American Eliot Spizzirri, who had reached a major third round for the first time by defeating Wu Yibing in five sets.
