Sivasangari Subramaniam won the Australian Open women’s championship by beating Marina Stefanoni 11–7, 11–4, 11–8. The twenty-eight-minute final at South Bank Piazza gave the Malaysian her second Gold-level title, first trophy of the season and sixteenth championship of her career.

Stefanoni was playing her first Gold final after eliminating higher seeds during the week. Sivasangari moved ahead 6–1 in the first game, then took three consecutive points after the American narrowed the score to 8–7. A 6–0 second-game lead further strengthened her position.

Stefanoni saved four championship balls in the third before Sivasangari completed the win. The top seed said she had focused on remaining composed despite extra pressure from her position in the draw, and credited the previous day’s longer semifinal with helping her adapt to the court.
