Source publication date:
U.S. Soccer's Soccer Forward Foundation and Bank of America launched Soccer at Schools, an initiative intended to make football accessible in every American school by 2030. The programme would equip educators and community organisations with activities, training, advocacy material, equipment and a starter kit.
The first activation took place at Odyssey Charter in Altadena, California, with five hundred students joining a clinic featuring David Beckham and Angel City's Sydney Leroux. Further engagements were planned in Atlanta, Charlotte and Chicago as the programme expanded beyond its opening event.
U.S. Soccer described its network of 120 member organisations across fifty states as the basis for connecting schools with support. A platform allowing schools, clubs and community groups to engage directly with the initiative was scheduled to launch in the summer.
