Soliman injury reshapes Australian Open men’s draw
Jonah Bryant moved into the fourth seeding position after the Egyptian withdrew.
Source publication date:
Youssef Soliman withdrew from the Australian Open through injury, prompting changes to the men’s draw for the 10–15 March Brisbane tournament. His absence followed withdrawals from the New Zealand Open and a Texas Open second-round match, continuing a disrupted period for the Egyptian.
Jonah Bryant became the fourth seed and Nicolas Mueller moved to eighth, receiving an opening-round bye. Matias Knudsen’s change in position created room for Alex Lau to enter the field, while Velavan Senthilkumar became the sixteenth seed and drew Henry Leung.
Karim El Hammamy also withdrew, with Melvil Scianimanico replacing him against Australian wildcard Joseph White. Simon Herbert joined the revised field to face Moustafa Elsirty. The official announcement set out these replacements before the competition began across the tournament’s two Brisbane venues.
