Source publication date:
Matteo Sorci set an Italian under-20 indoor heptathlon record with 5,573 points in Miramas. The performance came in his first competition of the year and his debut in the junior age category.
The total surpassed Alberto Nonino’s 5,495 from March 2023. Across the seven events, Sorci recorded 7.08 over 60 metres, 7.17 in long jump, 13.47 in shot put and 1.95 in high jump, then 8.08 in hurdles, 4.20 in pole vault and 2:49.00 over 1000 metres.
Sorci had won decathlon gold at the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival. The Miramas result continued that progression into junior competition, with personal improvements in several disciplines contributing to the national record.
