South Africa started its men’s T20 World Cup campaign with a fifty-seven-run win over Canada in Ahmedabad. Aiden Markram scored 59 as the team reached 213, while Lungi Ngidi’s four wickets for 31 helped contain Canada’s response despite Navneet Dhaliwal’s half-century.
Zimbabwe defeated Oman by eight wickets in Colombo after restricting the opponents to 103. Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans each took three wickets. Brian Bennett stayed unbeaten on 48 as Zimbabwe completed the chase after losing two early wickets.
Scotland beat tournament debutant Italy by seventy-three runs in Kolkata. George Munsey made 84 during a 126-run opening partnership, and Michael Leask contributed 22 from five balls before taking four wickets for seventeen. Benjamin Manenti’s fifty could not sustain Italy’s chase.
