Spain’s women recover two goals to win the Hobart shootout
Australia’s men stayed unbeaten with a separate 3–0 victory over Spain.
Source publication date:
Spain’s women recovered from a two-goal deficit to draw 2–2 with Australia in Hobart and won the shootout 2–1. The result denied the Hockeyroos their first outright Pro League victory of the season despite a promising home performance.
Australia showed early attacking intent, with an effort inside the opening thirty seconds ruled out for touching an Australian foot. Their subsequent two-goal advantage was not enough to secure the full regulation return, as Spain restored parity before the additional contest.
The corresponding men’s fixture produced a different outcome for the hosts. Australia defeated Spain 3–0 with a composed performance and extended their unbeaten run. The day therefore combined another men’s regulation win with a missed opportunity for the Australian women.
