Sri Lanka qualified for the men’s T20 World Cup Super Eights after defeating Australia in Kandy. The hosts restricted Australia to 181 despite a fast opening partnership, then Pathum Nissanka’s unbeaten century guided the chase and completed a commanding performance.
England secured its next-stage place with a twenty-four-run victory over Italy in Kolkata. Italy pursued a target of 203 through a ninety-two-run partnership between Justin Mosca and Benjamin Manenti, but three-wicket performances from Sam Curran and Jamie Overton helped end the innings at 178.
Afghanistan kept its hopes alive by beating the United Arab Emirates by five wickets in New Delhi. Azmatullah Omarzai took four wickets and then struck an unbeaten forty, while Ibrahim Zadran contributed a half-century. Sohaib Khan had earlier led UAE’s batting with sixty-eight.
