Sri Lanka began its men’s T20 World Cup campaign by beating Ireland in Colombo, with Wanindu Hasaranga taking three wickets for 25. Kamindu Mendis’ 44 from nineteen balls supplied late batting impetus before the hosts defended a target of 164.
England held off Nepal by four runs in Mumbai after posting 184. Jacob Bethell and Harry Brook made half-centuries, while Will Jacks added an unbeaten 39. Nepal needed ten from the last over, but Sam Curran conceded six to preserve England’s advantage.
