Steen wins third Calgary junior freeski title in rail
The fourteen-year-old completed a four-medal week with a 45.88-point victory.
Source publication date:
Lainey Steen won the women’s freeski rail final at the Park and Pipe Junior World Championships in Calgary with 45.88 points. The fourteen-year-old American defeated Norway’s Ingvild Almaas Hagland on 43.13, while fellow Norwegian Lillian Buszko took bronze with 42.88.
Steen’s variety score of nine points proved decisive, despite Hagland approaching her trick total closely. The result added rail gold to Steen’s big air and slopestyle titles, alongside a halfpipe silver, completing four podium appearances at WinSport Canada Olympic Park.
The rail victory was Steen’s eleventh consecutive podium finish of 2026 and her third career win in the discipline. Hagland earned a second career rail podium, while Buszko recorded her first, before the men’s contest concluded the freeski programme.
