Marina Stefanoni defeated Salma Hany 3–2 in the Australian Open quarterfinals. She won 8–11, 15–13, 11–5, 9–11, 11–7 in seventy-three minutes, reaching her third consecutive PSA semifinal after a stop-start match at South Bank Piazza in Brisbane.

Stefanoni led 8–3 in the fifth before Hany narrowed the gap and took an injury timeout for an apparent hip problem. The American held her nerve after play resumed. Tinne Gilis beat Sana Ibrahim 3–0 to become Stefanoni’s semifinal opponent for a second successive week.

Mohamad Zakaria defeated Eain Yow Ng 3–1 in seventy-nine minutes, overcoming the Malaysian’s strong backhand pressure. Joel Makin beat Nicolas Mueller 3–0 in forty-nine minutes. Those victories set up a rematch of Zakaria and Makin’s 125-minute New Zealand semifinal from the previous week.
