Sundling controls the Oberhof freestyle sprint
Rydzek recovered from a heat fall to finish second on home snow.
Source publication date:
Jonna Sundling won the women’s freestyle sprint in Oberhof, showing strong form from qualification through the final. The Swedish Olympic and world champion had skipped the Tour de Ski while preparing for the Games and returned with a commanding World Cup performance.
Germany’s Coletta Rydzek finished second despite falling in an earlier heat and briefly struggling on the icy track in the final. Maja Dahlqvist placed third after also recovering from a heat fall, joining Sundling on the podium.
Officials reviewed a possible obstruction involving Dahlqvist before confirming the result. Her third place brought the sprint leader’s red bib, while Rydzek gained another runner-up finish after her earlier second place in Toblach.
