The Swedish skier beat Svahn by 3.5 seconds in the twenty-kilometre mass start.
Source publication date:
Jonna Sundling won the women’s twenty-kilometre freestyle mass start at the Lake Placid World Cup finale. The Swede broke clear late and finished 3.5 seconds ahead of Linn Svahn, with Norway’s Heidi Weng taking third another seven tenths behind the runner-up.
The race marked Jessie Diggins’s final World Cup appearance before retirement. The American remained in contention until a fall on a downhill corner during the last lap ended her podium challenge, after she had already secured the season’s overall and distance titles.
Earlier collisions affected Frida Karlsson and Astrid Oeyre Slind, although Karlsson recovered to the leading group. Norway’s Karoline Groetting briefly led before finishing fourth for her best World Cup result, while Sundling completed the season with a sixth victory.
