Linn Svahn won the women’s ten-kilometre classic interval start in Lake Placid in 29:04.4. The Swedish skier finished 1.4 seconds ahead of Frida Karlsson, claiming her first World Cup interval start victory as the circuit returned to the venue for the first time since 1979.

Heavy snowfall made a demanding course harder, especially its long opening climbs and tight descending turns. Karlsson reduced an early deficit to one tenth at 6.7 kilometres, but Svahn rebuilt the advantage before holding on through the final section.

Norway’s Heidi Weng took third, 22.1 seconds behind the winner. Svahn’s success was her twentieth individual World Cup victory and third of the season, reversing the outcome of the previous Lahti classic race where Karlsson had prevailed.
