Svahn returns with Goms classic sprint victory
Gimmler achieved a career-best second place in a closely contested final.
Source publication date:
Linn Svahn won the women’s classic sprint in Goms after six weeks away from World Cup racing. The Swedish skier led qualification and won every knockout round, then held off Laura Gimmler by 0.12 seconds in the final.
Nadine Faehndrich finished third on home snow, 0.26 seconds behind, after passing Maja Dahlqvist in the home straight. Gimmler’s runner-up result was her best individual World Cup finish and followed her team sprint victory with Coletta Rydzek the previous day.
Svahn had faced injury and illness during a difficult year, including a concussion that ruled her out of the 2025 World Championships. Her return to the top step came in the last World Cup sprint before the Olympics, strengthening her case within Sweden’s competitive team.
