Elina Svitolina defeated Coco Gauff 6–1, 6–2 to reach the Australian Open semifinals for the first time. The thirty-one-year-old Ukrainian completed the quarterfinal in fifty-nine minutes under the closed Rod Laver Arena roof and secured her fourth major semifinal overall.
Gauff struggled on serve, hitting five early double faults, and finished with twenty-six unforced errors. Svitolina converted six of seven break opportunities, repeatedly putting the American under pressure while maintaining control of her own attacking patterns and the closing stages.
The result was Svitolina’s tenth victory of an unbeaten start to the season, following her Auckland title. It guaranteed her first return to the top ten since 2021 and set up a semifinal against world number one Aryna Sabalenka.
