Tinne Gilis defeated her older sister Nele 11–6, 5–11, 12–10, 11–9 to win the New Zealand Open. The seventy-eight-minute Christchurch final gave Tinne her first PSA title since October 2024 and only her second victory in their ten professional meetings.
After the sisters shared the opening two games, the third became the decisive struggle. Tinne saved a game ball before taking it 12–10 in twenty-five minutes, moving within one game of the title at the Isaac Theatre Royal.
Nele established a 4–1 lead in the fourth, but Tinne recovered and kept the match from reaching a decider. The result brought an end to her title wait through a victory over an opponent who had previously dominated their family’s head-to-head record.
