Ulster awarded bonus-point win after Cheetahs cancellation
Frozen conditions prevent the Challenge Cup fixture from being played safely.
Source publication date:
Ulster received a 28–0 win and five competition points after its Challenge Cup match against the Cheetahs was cancelled. Severe weather in the Netherlands prevented the third-round fixture from proceeding, despite efforts to find an alternative playing venue.
The game was initially scheduled for the National Rugby Centre in Amsterdam, then moved to the Dukes ground in Den Bosch behind closed doors. Inspections found snow and frozen conditions made the replacement pitch unsafe, and EPCR confirmed the cancellation.
The ruling included a four-try bonus point and took Ulster to twelve points in Pool 3. It secured the province’s place in the last sixteen. Under the competition regulations described in the announcement, responsibility for providing a playable venue rested with the host club.
