Vietnam defeated India 2-1 in Perth after Ngan Thi Van Su scored her second goal deep into added time. The late finish decided a Women’s Asian Cup Group C match that India had brought level through substitute Sanfida Nongrum.

Vietnam pressed early and created several chances before Van Su opened the scoring around the half-hour mark. India goalkeeper Panthoi Chanu made important saves, while Vietnam also hit the woodwork during their search for the initial breakthrough.

India equalised soon after the interval when Nongrum’s looping shot reached the net. Both sides then sought a winner, but Vietnam took the points when India failed to clear Vu Thi Hoa’s cross and Van Su converted, setting up their next fixture against Chinese Taipei.
