Jay Vine won the second road stage of the Tour Down Under after a decisive attack on Corkscrew Road. His UAE Team Emirates XRG teammate Jhonatan Narvaez finished second, leaving the team in control of the leading general classification positions.

The Australian moved six seconds ahead of Narvaez, with Swiss road champion Mauro Schmid the nearest rider from another team at one minute and five seconds. Vine credited Adam Yates for the work that helped launch the team’s move on the climb.

The victory strengthened Vine’s bid for another overall Tour Down Under title after his 2023 success. The race next headed from Henley Beach to Nairne, where the leader would face the different demands of a stage suited to fast finishers.
