Xinran Hui wins Tashkent’s opening gold
The Chinese judoka defeated Mizuki Harada after leading contenders exited early at under-48kg.

Xinran Hui won the women’s under-48kg title and the first gold medal of the Tashkent Grand Slam. The Chinese athlete defeated Mizuki Harada in a tightly balanced final, gaining a decisive advantage late in the contest and controlling the closing exchanges.
The category saw early exits for Paris champion Shirine Boukli and reigning world champion Assunta Scutto. Harada beat Boukli during her progress to the final, while Scutto lost her opening contest to Uzbekistan’s Laziza Haydarova, who later fell to Hui in the semifinal.
Maria Celia Laborde took her first Grand Slam bronze after Haydarova received a third penalty in golden score. Japan’s Sachiyo Yoshino earned the second bronze against Francesca Milani, scoring with a ko-uchi-gari to secure her place alongside Hui and Harada on the podium.
