Zimbabwe named host of African schools finals

Zimbabwe will host the African Schools Football Championship continental finals in Harare, CAF announced. The fourth edition was scheduled for April, bringing together boys’ and girls’ teams after the completion of regional qualifying competitions.
CAF listed eight participating teams in each category, including host Zimbabwe and the defending champions. The announcement also described plans to invite teams from other confederations, with further details and the competition draw to follow.
Category winners will receive three hundred thousand dollars, with lower awards for second and third places. Those funds are reserved for improvements to schools’ educational and sporting facilities. The tournament will also include workshops for young referees, reporters and medical officers, alongside coaching and safeguarding programmes.
