Ahmad Yusifov wins world judo 60kg title on home mat in Baku
Azerbaijan's Ahmad Yusifov overturned an early deficit against Sherzod Davlatov to win the men's 60kg world title.
Ahmad Yusifov won the men's 60kg title at the 2026 World Judo Championships in Baku on 4 October, beating Kazakhstan's Sherzod Davlatov in the final. The victory gave host nation Azerbaijan its first gold medal of the championships.
Davlatov opened the scoring with a waza-ari, but Yusifov countered for an equalising score and then completed a hold for a second waza-ari. The IJF result table lists Ryuju Nagayama of Japan and Giorgi Sardalashvili of Georgia as the bronze medallists.
The IJF's official results, detailed final report and opening-day review agree on the winner and medal order. This report treats the completed 60kg category as one underlying result and does not split the final, medal table or home-nation milestone into separate stories.
