Ashrifah wins Indonesia’s first Asian Games archery gold
Indonesia and Korea claimed historic compound titles at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.

Nurisa Dian Ashrifah delivered Indonesia’s first Asian Games archery gold on 1 October, beating the Philippines’ Amaya Amparo Cojuangco 139-137 in the compound women’s final. The 20-year-old secured the breakthrough at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park’s multipurpose square.
The finalists were level on 110 points after four ends. Ashrifah then scored 29 against Cojuangco’s 27 to settle the match. Her route included a 144-143 quarter-final victory over Chikitha Taniparthi and a 147-143 semi-final win against Kang Yeonseo. Cojuangco’s silver was also the Philippines’ first in Asian Games archery.
Korea’s Kim Jongho won the men’s compound title, defeating Chang Cheng Wei 149-145 for his country’s first Asian Games gold in that event. These confirmed compound results precede the scheduled recurve team finals on 2 October and individual finals on 3 October; those medals were still to be decided when the official report appeared.
