The International Weightlifting Federation’s official review of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games says the competition produced 25 senior world records. The programme ran from 23 to 29 September at the Nagoya City Trade and Industry Centre, and five of those records were achieved by athletes who did not win their category.

DPR Korea led the competition with 15 world records and seven category winners, finishing ahead of China on the medal table, with Iran third. Song Kuk Hyang topped the IWF’s GAMX points measure after world-record lifts of 121kg in the snatch, 152kg in the clean and jerk and 273kg in total at 69kg.

The IWF report also documents world-record performances across the men’s programme, including Ri Won Ju at 70kg, Rahmat Erwin Abdullah at 75kg, Ro Kwang Ryol at 85kg, Ali Alipour at 95kg and Akbar Djuraev at 110kg. The figure is an official post-event tally for weightlifting, not a claim about every record set across the full Asian Games.
