Coleman Wong wins Hong Kong, China’s first Asian Games tennis gold
Wong beat Wu Yibing 6-2, 6-4 in Nagoya and earned a provisional route to LA28.

Coleman Wong won the Asian Games men’s singles tennis title in Nagoya on 3 October, defeating China’s Wu Yibing 6-2, 6-4. The result delivered Hong Kong, China’s first Asian Games tennis gold.
The top seed’s victory also brought the delegation its eighth gold of Aichi-Nagoya 2026, matching its previous Games record. Hong Kong’s Olympic committee congratulated Wong and the tennis team as the Games approached their scheduled closing ceremony on 4 October.
The title provides a provisional Olympic qualification place through the continental Games pathway. The LA28 tennis qualification system requires the relevant singles ranking to be inside the top 500 and other eligibility conditions to be satisfied. Wong has won the Asian Games title; his final Olympic participation remains subject to those requirements rather than being an unconditional confirmed entry.
