India end a 44-year wait and qualify for LA28 with Asian Games hockey gold
Lalremsiami's 10th-minute goal and Savita's penalty-stroke save secured a 1-0 final victory over China.

India beat defending champion China 1-0 in the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 women's hockey final to win their first Asian Games title in the event since 1982 and secure direct qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Lalremsiami, making her 200th international appearance, scored the decisive goal with a reverse strike in the 10th minute. Captain Savita then saved a Chinese penalty stroke as India protected the lead through the remainder of the final.
China took silver and will enter the Olympic Qualification Tournaments alongside Japan, Korea and Malaysia. India became the third women's hockey team confirmed for LA28 after host United States and Netherlands.
