Iran’s Amin Mirzazadeh retained the Asian Games Greco-Roman 130kg title on 30 September, defeating Uzbekistan’s Rafael Tsitsuashvili 3-1 in Nagoya. It was his second gold in the competition.

Mirzazadeh gained a two-point roll from par terre during the first period and protected his advantage when placed underneath in the second. In the semi-final, he had edged China’s Meng Lingzhe 1-1 by scoring the first passivity point.

The opening session also produced gold for Japan’s Taizo Yoshida at 87kg and Uzbekistan’s Aytjan Khalmakhanov at 67kg. These were three completed Greco-Roman finals, rather than the final medal balance for the entire wrestling programme.

The result confirmed a successful heavyweight title defence for Iran while the remaining weight categories continued on later days. The separate women’s 68kg outcome is covered in its own report.
