Uta Abe wins sixth world judo title in Baku
Japan's Uta Abe defeated Spain's Ariane Toro Soler in the women's 52kg final to secure a sixth senior world title.
Uta Abe won the women's 52kg title at the 2026 World Judo Championships in Baku on 5 October, defeating Spain's Ariane Toro Soler in the final. The International Judo Federation's final classification lists Abe first and Toro Soler second.
The IJF described a close final in which Abe managed the decisive moments to secure her sixth senior world title. Ayumi Leiva Sanchez of Spain and Odette Giuffrida of Italy won the two bronze medals.
