Wang Xiyu wins Asian Games tennis gold and an LA28 place
The Chinese left-hander beat Zhang Shuai 6-2, 6-1 in the women's singles final.

China's Wang Xiyu won the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 women's singles tennis title with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over compatriot Zhang Shuai in the final.
The 25-year-old controlled the all-Chinese championship match and, under the Asian Games qualification pathway, secured an automatic place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Wang reached the final by recovering from a set down to beat top seed Alex Eala 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. Eala and Yulia Putintseva received the singles bronze medals.
