Jeus Yape wins the Asian Games' first virtual taekwondo title

The Philippines athlete beat Vietnam's Chau Ngoc Tuyet Sang 2-0 in the mixed individual final.

Jeus Gabriel Derick Yape of the Philippines became the first Asian Games mixed individual virtual taekwondo champion by defeating Vietnam's Chau Ngoc Tuyet Sang 2-0 at Toyohashi Gymnasium.

Yape won the two rounds by remaining-health-point scores of 500-0 and 620-0. His performance comprised 21 kicks, including five head kicks, and five blocks.

The 22-year-old added the historic gold to the bronze medal he won in men's individual poomsae one day earlier. Virtual taekwondo was making its Asian Games programme debut.
