Tayyab Ikram and Kirsty Coventry discuss sport's response to global challenges

FIH President Tayyab Ikram met IOC President Kirsty Coventry at Olympic House in Lausanne. Their discussion examined the geopolitical situation, its effects on sport and hockey events, and the potential for sporting competition to connect countries during a difficult international period.
Ikram expressed support from FIH and the hockey community for Coventry's Fit For The Future initiative. He identified athlete benefit as a central aspect of the programme and welcomed the IOC president's leadership following the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games.
The meeting also included a formal invitation for Coventry to attend the FIH Hockey World Cup in August. Belgium and the Netherlands will co-host the men's and women's tournaments, providing the next major global championship setting for the federation's national teams.
